Indonesia Receives Metal Detecting Robots from China for G20 Event Security

The Chinese government handed over 14 sets of metal detecting robots that will be deployed for security during the G20 summit that will be held in Bali in November.

As reported by Antara, deputy chief of China’s Office for International Military Cooperation Zhang Bao Qun delivered the technological aids to Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Bayu Hendra Permana on Thursday, September 1.

“These detector robots can later be used for security in G20 summit in Bali,” Permana said.

There were 14 sets of robots received by the Indonesian Embassy, and each set consists of one small robot and one bigger-sized robot. They are reportedly valued at Rp 172.4 billion (US$11.9 million) in total.

The robots have the ability to detect metal in objects, and they can assist personnel to secure entry points to the venues of G20 events.

“Insya Allah, this can be delivered to Indonesia on September 30. And this aid is a grant [from Chinese government],” Permana confirmed.
