The Indonesian authorities arrested 14 people in three different provinces on Thursday, December 16, suspected as being members of terrorism group.
National Polices counterterrorism unit Detachment 88 arrested three individuals on suspicious links with extremist group Jemaah Islamiyah.
The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror team of the National Police arrested three members of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorism group in Central Java who served as the information technology (IT) team.
The Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan said the arrests took place on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
"Three JI network suspects were arrested, namely AP, RR and NT," said Ramadhan at Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Thursday, December 23.
Ramadhan explained that the suspect AP, who was arrested Wednesday morning at around 04.00 WIB, played a role as a JI member with the position of Head of IT Sub Division in the Central Java JI network. The second suspect, initials RR, was arrested at 06.50 WIB. His involvement as a member of the JI terrorist and a member of the IT Sub Division of the JI group in Central Java.
"The third suspects, with the initials NT, were arrested at around 06.00 WIB. His involvement is also the same, apart from a JI member, he is a member of the IT sector in the JI group in the Central Java region," said Ramadhan.
The arrest of these three people followed dozens of other suspects who had been detained some time ago, including several who functioned as fundraisers.
